| The new I-9 form and regulations take effect today, April 3, 2009. USCIS issued an Update and FAQ regarding the revised Form I-9, Employment Eligibility Verification. The revised form date is 02/02/09. The regulations and new form are for all U.S. employers. The revised I-9 regulations include a a list of documents acceptable for the I-9 employment elgibility verification process. Most importantly, the revised list no longer allows expired documents as forms of identification for employment authorization. It is very important that employers do not use the previous versions of the Form I-9. The new form and regulations can be found at http://www.uscis.gov/i-9 |
