The U.S. Department of State announced the release of new, detailed immigrant visa statistics, including the raw demand for immigrant visas as communicated by USCIS and consular posts to the Dept. of State Visa Office. The report provides both a total estimate of immigrant visas available for each employment preference category and country for fiscal year 2010. It also provides a useful reference chart of historic and projected demand for the "oversubscribed" employment-based immigrant visa categories, i.e., EB-2 IVs for China and India, and EB-3 IVs for China, India, Mexico, and the Philippines. These charts represent the data used in the March 2010 Visa Bulletin. This is the raw information used by DOS to tabulate immigrant visa availability, through January 30, 2010. According to DOS officials, the report is accurate for all data provided by U.S. consular posts, but may change in some categories if USCIS reports changes in demand that have not been communicated to the Visa Office.
