International medical graduates must comply with a myriad of complex local, state, and federal regulations during their residency, fellowship, and as practicing physicians.  Due to the complex rules and regulations surrounding exchange programs for J-1 visa holders, especially J-1 physicians, we have developed the following page of resources.

Historical Conrad State 30 Slot Usage
Below is a listing of approximately how many of their Conrad State 30 slots each state uses. This chart is for informational purposes only and is not meant to indicate actual usage.

  • States that usually fill all 30 slots each year:
    Arizona, California, Illinois, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New York, Texas, Washington, Florida
  • States that fill from 20 to 29 slots:
    Iowa, Pennsylvania, Arkansas, Maine, South Carolina, Louisiana, Connecticut, Minnesota, Rhode Island, Wisconsin
  • States that fill from 12-19 slots:
    Oregon, Ohio, Maryland, Delaware, Indiana, Kansas, New Mexico, Virginia, Oklahoma, Alabama, North Carolina
  • States that fill from 8-10 slots:
    Nebraska, New Hampshire, South Dakota, Colorado, Mississippi, Nevada, North Dakota, Georgia
  • States that fill fewer than 6 slots:
    Tennessee, West Virginia, Hawaii, Wyoming, Alaska, D.C., Montana, New Jersey, Utah, Idaho, Vermont
