It is with great pride that we let you know that our friend, mentor and colleague, Roxana ("Roxy") Bacon, has been named the General Counsel of USCIS by President Obama.  Ms. Bacon was one of American's top immigration lawyers for several decades, working tirelessly as an advocate for American employers, American families and foreign national workers.  It is with a new sense of optimism that we joyously congratulate Ms. Bacon on her appointment and know she will bring change which will mean great things for immigrants and for America.  In a recent press release, Ms. Bacon said, ""I am not blind to the hostility against immigration that has always accompanied our new arrivals. I have studied it all my professional life and I think I understand it. It is ugly. It is fear-based. It springs from incuriosity, the cerebral cortex of ignorance. It is nurtured by the greed gene that says someone new takes from your share, while in truth someone new makes the pie bigger." A clear statement the first month on the job sends the message to those who would denigrate the value of immigrants that such intolerance will not be tolerated while she is in office.
